Persephone’s Spotify Wrapped

SLIDE 1: WELCOME BACK

Your 2025 wrapped is here, Persephone. Your year had two very different vibes. Spotify noticed. We need to talk about it.

SLIDE 2: YOUR LISTENING TIME

You streamed 96,480 minutes of music this year.

You are in the top 0.01% of all Spotify listeners globally. That’s impressive! We want to be clear, however, that 48,240 of those minutes were logged from a location our servers cannot identify. The GPS coordinates return only the word “below.” We are working on this right now.

Your listening peaked in October, which we found statistically anomalous as most users’ engagement drops in the fall. Yours surged. We are choosing not to ask follow-up questions about this.

SLIDE 3: YOUR TOP GENRES

Our algorithm worked very hard this year. It would like you to know that. It did not succeed, but it tried.

Seasonal Depression — 38%

Cottagecore & Spring Revival — 31%

Underworld Ambient — 18%

Rage-Cry Breakup Pop — 9%

Pomegranate ASMR — 4%

Based on this data, Spotify attempted to generate you a personalized “daylist.” The application unfortunately crashed twice. On the third attempt it produced a playlist called “dark meadow Wednesday” and then immediately deleted itself. We have decided you will not be receiving a “daylist” this year. We hope you understand. Sorry for the inconvenience.

SLIDE 4: YOUR TOP SONGS

  1. “Mother Knows Best” — Donna Murphy ft. Demeter (3,847 plays)

  2. “Garden of Eden” — Lady Gaga

  3. “Save Me” — BTS

  4. “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” — Taylor Swift

  5. “I Knew Your Were Trouble” — Taylor Swift

  6. “You Don’t Own Me” — Lesley Gore

  7. “Me and the Devil” — Soap&Skin

  8. “What Was I  Made For?” — Billie Eilish

  9. “Shut Up and Let Me Go” — The Ting Tings

  10. “Washing Machine Heart” — Mitski

SLIDE 5: YOUR #1 MOST REPLAYED SONG

You played this song 3,847 times. That is 242 hours. That is more than ten full days of your life spent listening to a song about a choice you made. You know what the song is about. We know what the song is about. We are all, at this point, very familiar with the central themes of the song.

The most replayed lyric, per Spotify’s internal data:

Shh, trust me pet / Mother knows best / Mother knows best / Listen to your mother / It’s a scary world out there

We have added our therapist playlist, “Couch Time,” to your queue. It auto-plays after this song now. You keep skipping it. We keep adding it back. This is, in a way, its own kind of seasonal cycle, and we have made peace with that.

SLIDE 6: YOUR SPOTIFY CLUB

Every listener belongs somewhere. Based on your full 2025 listening profile, Spotify has placed you in:

Soft Hearts Club (vulnerable)

We want to be transparent with you: this was not a close call. You were not on the border of Grit Collective. You were not briefly considered for Full Charge Crew. The algorithm looked at your data for approximately four seconds and placed you here without deliberation.

Soft Hearts Club members are defined by their capacity for deep feeling, their tendency to process emotions through music rather than conversation, and their above-average engagement with songs that could be described as “a lot.” You streamed more songs categorized as “a lot” than 99.8% of users this year.

SLIDE 7: A MESSAGE FROM YOUR #1 ARTIST

You streamed Andrew Hozier-Byrne 4,201 times this year. He has something to say.

"Persephone —

I have to be honest with you. I've been writing about you for eleven years and I only just realized it.

“Take Me to Church” — that was you. I thought it was a metaphor. It wasn't a metaphor. You live there. I am so sorry.

“Work Song” — I wrote that about devotion outlasting death and I thought I was being poetic. You probably thought I was being biographical. We were both right.

“From Eden” — okay that one I knew.

I want you to know that when I wrote the line “I’ll be the suffering you find beautiful” I was not specifically thinking about a pomegranate incident, but in retrospect, the timing of its release relative to your annual schedule is something I have been sitting with for a while.

Your most played lyric of mine this year was: “Take me to church / I’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies” You played it 847 times. Mostly underground. I don't know what to do with that information but I felt you deserved to know I have it.

You are my most devoted listener. You are also, based on Spotify’s data, the reason three of my songs are categorized under “Underworld Ambient.” I did not know that was a genre. I am not upset about it.

Come up for spring. Bring the flowers. I’ll have a show on.

—Hozier

P.S. I am working on a new album. Several of the songs are, upon reflection, probably about you again. I apologize in advance. I also do not apologize."

SLIDE 8: SEE YOU NEXT YEAR

Thanks for another year, Persephone.

Same arrangement next year, we assume. We’ll be here.

A few housekeeping notes: your Premium subscription renews on the spring equinox. Your payment method on file is one golden bough. This has raised several flags in our billing department. It has also cleared every single time without issue, and at this point our finance team has simply stopped questioning it and moved on with their lives, which we think is the right call.

Your Wrapped has been saved to your profile. You can share it to Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), or X (formerly Olympus), depending on which realm you’re currently in.

Spotify is not responsible for any existential reckonings prompted by this Wrapped. Nor for the seasons. That one is on your family.
